Cyber Trip USA!

Introduction

You have selected two states to visit in cyberspace.  Gather the required information from the Internet sites and from encyclopedias and fill out a worksheet on each state.  Then choose one of the states and make a travel brochure with pictures and facts.

Take the Cyber Trip
First, visit the states.  You will use the Internet and encyclopedias for this activity.

    3.  http://www.theus50.com/fastfacts.shtml

Get your information
• Next, fill out a worksheet on each state. Click here for worksheet.

Make a brochure

• Then, create your brochure for one of the states.  Return to the Internet site of the state to save the required pictures on your disk.  There is a brochure template here (uses Microsoft Word).

To save a picture from the Internet, follow these steps:
1. Put your cursor on the picture you wish to save.
2. RIGHT click on the mouse.
3. When the box pops up, choose the SAVE IMAGE AS option.
4. When the next box pops up, give your picture a name you can remember and click SAVE.

To create your brochure:
1. Open a blank Word document and type the name of the state and your name.
2. Go to INSERT, PICTURE, FROM FILE.
3. Choose the file name of the picture you want and click on the INSERT button.
4. Type a line to identify the picture.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the other pictures.
6. Add the required information about the state.

Assessment
Each person will turn in a worksheet on two states and a brochure on one of the states.  The worksheets are worth 30 points each, and the brochure (with the required pictures and information) is worth 40 points for a total of 100 points.
