Wireless Security Issues
Wireless networks offer great flexibility for many businesses and schools; however, there are also many concerns about wireless network security.

In a goverment report by the U.S. Department of Commerce, many threats and vulnerabilities are listed. Examples of these concerns follow.

People who wish to do harm to a business's network may be able to use wireless access to avoid firewalls and other security measures that are active on the wired network.
Private information that is transmitted between two wireless devices may be intercepted by another user who does not have legal access to the information.
Viruses can sometimes come through a network user's wireless device because the proper virus software may not be installed on the wireless device.
Non-authorized users from both within the company and from outside can sometiems access network management controls via an unsecured wireless network connection.
Ways to Create Secure Wireless Networks
Install proper firewall and security software on all wireless devices in a company.
Encrypt the wireless signal from the wireless access point so only authorized users can obtain access to the hot spot.
Provide individual passwords for all company employees who have wireless devices connected to the network.
