Editing

These are available in most word processing programs. Teachers should point out to students that using a spelling and grammar checker does not mean that they do not have to revise or edit their papers. It is very important for students to edit their papers themselves even after using a spelling or grammar checker.

Students can easily edit other students’ work if they are given a rubric for grading. Also, students find it much easier to read other students’ work if it has been word processed.

This tool allows teachers to make comments and suggest changes electronically. It is most effective for teachers who have their students turn in papers on disks or via email.
